Requirements for "Master
Breeder": The basis for obtaining the Master Breeder
Award is a point system. A breeder accumulates points
throughout his/her lifetime from placings of their
birds at A.P.P.C. shows. A total of 500 points must be
obtained to qualify for nomination as a "Master
Breeder".
Selection: To achieve the title of Master Breeder, a
breeder must prove consistency in breeding quality Pigmy
Pouters over a period of time as indicated by show
placings at A.P.P.C. shows. Once a breeder has met the
point requirements, the point keeper will notify the
President, Who will appoint a committee for final
approval and verification of points. For final approval,
the member must maintain high character, Which displays
loyalty to the American Pigmy Pouter Club, honesty, and
good sportsmanship. The member must also have made
significant contributions to the breed by service. Such
service may include encouragement of new breeders,
participation in A.P.P.C. events, judging, etc.
Show results: It is the responsibility of the Show
Secretary to provide the A.P.P.C. point keeper with the
official show results at the conclusion of a meet. Show
results must include the total numbers of birds
exhibited in each class, all exhibitors names, complete
band numbers, and judge or judges. All disputes
regarding show results will be settled by grievance
committee selected by the President.
Clarifications and additions to the Master Breeders
rules:
1) The A.P.P.C. has traditionally recognized color
classes for blue, silver (brown bar), red, yellow,
black, white, and A.O.C. If six or more birds of the
same color are entered in the A.O.C. class, the Show
Secretary may create a new class for that color,
providing that color is recognized by the A.P.P.C.
Standard.
2) Under no circumstances will points be awarded for
classes labeled barred, checkered, self, solid, grizzle,
as these terms denote patterns and are not colors. Also,
classes labeled combined or rare will not be pointed.
3) Points are earned only on birds bred by the
exhibitor, not birds obtained from another breeder. If
it is revealed that any birds receiving points was not
bred by the exhibitor, then those points will be given
to the actual breeder of the bird.
4) A breeder is considered one entity. If entries are
made under a loft name, joint names, etc. then the
records will be kept as such and not divided under
separate names. If the partnership is dissolved, the
remaining breeder(s) of the partnership may petition the
A.P.P.C. Executive Committee to have the points credited
to the remaining breeder(s).
5) Points earned by a single bird will be added together
from the various categories, ie age, color, sex, etc.
For example, there is a 150 bird entry (class A show). A
white young cock is selected first in a class of 16. If
this bird goes on to be Champion, it will receive 7
points for winning a class of 16 or over. 4 points for
winning Best of Color. 6 points for Best Young Cock. 10
points for Champion. A total of 27 points.
6) In case of a single bird in a class, no points will
be awarded to this entry unless it later goes on to win
a championship category then it will receive the minimum
points for first place. Also, no bird can receive
championship points that are not allotted by rule. For
example, a blue old hen is the only bird in its class at
a class D show. It goes on to win best of Color. Under
the Master Breeder point system, this entry will receive
1 point; there are no points for best of color in a
class D show.
7) In determining the rating of a show, only the actual
number of birds shown will count, not the number of
birds entered.
8) On January 04,1992, the current point system and
rules went into effect. All previous shows, properly
recognized and approved, will be tabulated under the old
point system, but henceforth all will be governed by the
rules now in effect.
Color Specialty Award:
The American Pigmy Pouter Club recognizes that many
breeders are devoted to raising one particular color,
and so, may find it difficult to achieve the status of
"Master Breeder". Therefore, a Color Specialty Award has
been established to recognize those fanciers who have
shown consistency in their breeding program by
accumulating 100 points on birds of a single color.
Points will be earned on the same basis as the "Master
Breeder Award".
A breeder may qualify for more than one Color Specialty
Award, but must earn the required 100 points for each
individual color. If a total of 250 points are
accumulated in a single color, a Superior designation
will be awarded to that breeder for that color.
Achievement of either the Color Specialty Award or
Superior designation will not detract from a breeders
ability to attain the "Master Breeder Award"
designation; as points acquired from these systems will
count toward the total points required for obtaining
"Master Breeder". |
